Noon 31st January

Galle is quickly becoming something of a pleasant surprise and we have been
rather busy in the last 24 hours.

With Guido on his way to Colombo and home we had a whistle stop tour of the
town. When I say whistle stop I mean it. Our friendly tuk tuk driver has
adopted us as his own. We charged around, changing money seeing a few sights
including the cricket ground (they really are cricket mad here), having luch
and the visiting his house for coffee all in the space of 2 hours. Phew!

He told us the story of his tsunami when he lost his house and 14 members of
his family. He was befriended by an Englishman, Eric from Manchester who
helped him buy some land and build a new house. He is forever grateful and
Eric will be here in a few days. Looking forward to meeting him.

So we are off early tomorrow morning for a 3 day tour of temples, elephants
and tea plantations, together with our Kiwi friends , Mark and Amanda on
Balvenie and Robert a single handed Frenchman.

With a bit of luck I will be able to provide a brief update each day via
mobile phone and a full report when we are back.
