Day 17 – (16 days of sailing), Wed 1st Feb.

 

Just a quick update. Apparently I made a mistake with the Wednesday update – so I have re-sent it..

 

Thankfully the wind has become steady and last night we experienced no squalls at all. In fact I had my best night sleep since we started this journey! Today, we are all feeling much more refreshed and excited to be within 650 nautical miles of Antigua!! Today the sailing has been wonderful.

 

We imagine, though this can obviously all change, that we will arrive on Monday morning – but let’s see. The wind can be a little unpredictable to say the least!

 

At the moment,we are two and a half hours behind Portugal – I love this, we have ‘ships time’, ie we put the clocks back as and when we feel like it! When the morning taking too long to get light or like last night, we were a little late getting ourselves organised for the night shift to begin we simply gave ourselves an extra half an hour by putting the clocks back. Brilliant, I love this! (We were under the impression that Antigua is four hours behind GMT but our satellite phone says it is three and a half ......... We’ll find out when we get there!).
