As I said, the temperature was 42C when we got back to the
car. I was seriously hot and bothered – after this trip I’m going to
Norway.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Star Hotel used to be a secret drinking place. It was
somehow de-licenced in the 1890s. The workers on the wharf were a bit annoyed
about this and continued to drink illegally in The Shades – the cellar. It was
then that an underground escape tunnel was built so the secret drinkers could
escape the police.
![]() Stephen in the underground tunnel.
![]() You were supposed to pull/push this handle back and forth fast
enough to turn the light on. The only thing I was interested in was in cooling
my feet down.
![]() ![]() The bridge hotel had an historic upstairs gallery with rooms
done out or nursemaids, rich and poor folk. luckily we never got any pictures of
that. |
