Lizard Island

14:39.58S 145:27.05E The best sail that we have had for some time – a beam
reach from Cooktown. We decided to move on after 3 hours on the bottom last
night and the promise of even lower tides today. Sol Maria came along as usual
and after an initial rain shower it was sunny periods and fresh winds all of
the way. William departed for Melbourne last Thursday whilst Madeleine has
remained on board. She caught her first big fish today – a 110cm mackerel
eclipsing Wiliam’s record of 89cm. Sol Maria found a snake on board last night which resulted
in a bit lip for Shea – she bit it as she ran away in panic! We are
expecting another 5 rally boats to arrive at Lizard tomorrow – just in
time for Juliette’s 4th birthday. One of the boats knows how
to put photos on this blog site..... hold your breath. Lizard is beautiful – crystal clear water, white sand
and warm. Unfortunately also very windy so Simonne has lots of chain down tonight.
We expect to stay until Tuesday and then do a long sail north. We want to be in
Darwin within 2 weeks. We have 900 Nm to go (1750kms) Guy
