What a day!

Cat-man-do

After the rather beautiful night last night, the
morning surprisingly dawned overcast and very damp (but not raining) Everything
on the boat is damp though. Doesn't seem to matter where it's stored. We think
it must be the change of temperature from day to night. The whole boat at night
is absolutely sodden with condensation. Even the main sail last night had a
constant supply of dripping water from the condensation. As today has been so
flat, we've opened up all the roof vents to try an get some air through the
boat.
Anyway, Andrew has resumed his fishing efforts by
throwing just about every lure/bait we have on board out the back. Still no joy
as yet though. We are as we trundle ever onward intermittently surrounded by big
pods of Dolphins. And still the huge numbers of Jellyfish in the area. However
highlights of the day so far have to be a 10 foot or so Shark happily lazing on
the surface as the boat passed within about 15 feet of it. Quite a
sight.
Prize for best of the day though has to go to the
Whale happily swimming about 45 degrees to us in the same direction. Probably no
more than 200 metres or so from us when he/she dived under. By far the biggest
of the 4 sightings I've had on this trip. We got a good view of the full side of
it as it swam along before diving. On getting out our ubiquitous Whale spotting
book (thank you Debbie) we have identified it as a Fin Whale, second in size
only to the Blue whale at an adult size of 27 metres long (up to 81 tons!!)
Words fail me to describe it, there's only so many times you can use the term
"awesome"
Still no wind and slow progress but we are now just
200 and odd miles from our destination for this leg. Horta on the island of
Faial in the Azores.
The scenery so far today, has made the lack of
sailing somehow less of an issue.
Thanks for reading.
Take care
