Putting boat to bed.
Got the foresails to the sail maker for repair and got
the no. two reefing line re-run. Single line in boom reefing is NOT a good thing
when one of the lines chafes thru and disappears into the
boom!
The anchoring for the anchor is still a work in
progress.
The tricolor cobbled together and put up by Allden and
Roger in Las Palmas is still going strong. Probably a lot better than the
original!
Still waiting for the Anderson engineer to replace the
solenoid on the rogue electric winch. NEVER EVER EVER use a self tailer with an
electric winch.
The local Raymarine rep came on board to sort out
the eccentricities of the main and repeater plotters and in the process found we
had standing - fresh - water in the pod holding the cockpit repeater!
Apart from that Dear Reader - all is well.
The marina here is very well run, although windy and
sandy requiring plastic bags to be duct taped around anything that moves and has
grease in it and is as good a place as any to leave a boat in the Canaries. It
still remains to be seen if we can get out to the Caribbean in early 2012 or if
we'll be stuck here until April at which time we'll head up to the Med and
possibly enter the 2012 ARC - déjà vu all over again!! Canaries cruising is
fine but it is all down hill unless serious windward work is your
pleasure. They say the quickest way back to UK from here is via mid
Atlantic.
