A Smashing Time with Mum and a
much needed Gardening Fix
We were very excited to visit Mum but
the driveway beckoned, plan forming – Gardening
Fix
Next day at breakfast there was a
discussion as to what size skip I should order. I thought big, Bear said small –
so we went for medium. Mr. Royles arrived
later
Off we all went to B&Q when it
was found the old hedge trimmer had gone to tool heaven. Chosen, then the fight
with the ‘do it yourself till’. The woman’s voice kept shouting at me to put my
scanned item on the scales but as it was a single fuse; the scales didn’t
register it. Kerfuffle and a real lady to help, all was well. Mum fed us and out
to the job in hand. All the extension leads joined together couldn’t quite get
to the end of the drive - time for a quick chat down the back of the shed with
Peter next door who let us borrow
his. Really all set now. The weather was gorgeous and it felt so good to
have the sun on our backs as we got mean with the bushes. We thoroughly enjoyed
ourselves over the next couple of days. Mum - very strict with breakfast,
elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea and supper. If we were an army we certainly
could march forever with her delicious home-made food.
Bear making room
for the last bits – next time we will ‘go large’
I can’t tell how many apples we ate
off the heavily laden trees during the quick once-over in the back garden. There is just
something so English about picking, sniffing and relishing a juicy, sweet apple
– a simple pleasure that we really enjoyed, bit
different to what we are used to in the Caribbean. Time for a
shower and ready for Cecily and Martin who popped down for supper – lovely to
see them
On Sunday, Mum took us to lunch with the perfect view over the Gloucester countryside, in the evening Scrabble battle
commenced
ALL IN ALL WHAT
A FANTASTIC VISIT
